ISHPEMING - Iron Mountain's Jared Gauthier met a familiar foe in a Division 4 individual district wrestling final Saturday.
The top-seeded Gauthier decisioned teammate Alex Edwards 8-1 for the 119-pound title and berth in the regional at downstate Rogers City.
"Alex decided to enter the individual districts after having difficulties making weight at 112," Mountaineer coach Brandon Rutter said.

Iron Mountain’s Corbin Henkel faces Richard Bentley of St. Ignace in the 130-pound championship match at the Division 4 individual wrestling district tournament at Westwood High School Saturday. Bentley pinned Henkel at 3:08 for the district title, though both wrestlers will advance to regional competition Saturday.
Gauthier improved to 38-1 on the season while the second-seeded Edwards (34-3) also qualified for regional.
"We wrestle each other in practice, but it's difficult to wrestle (against) someone you've known your whole life," Gauthier said. "We knew we had to be serious.
"We talked before the match about not having any hard feelings with whoever won."
Gauthier was the lone Dickinson County wrestler to win a district title Saturday. Top four district wrestlers move on to the regional.
Mountaineers' Corbin Henkel (130) lost in the finals to St. Ignace's Richard Bentley (pin, 3:08). Iron Mountain's Tanner Chouinard (135) finished third and Jacob Weslin (140) overcame knee problems for fourth.
"Tanner Chouinard dropped a tough semifinal to Jonathan Willey of Ishpeming," said Rutter, noting a 16-12 score. "Tanner fought his way out of the consolation bracket to take third by defeating Jason Brown of St Ignace (12-5 decision).
Weslin was edged in the semifinals (3-2) by Onaway's Morgan Robins, honorable mention in the state rankings. Weslin held a 2-1 lead going into the third period but a knee injury and late reversal cost him the match.
"Jacob continued to wrestle in the consolation semifinals (and beat Ishpeming's Dylan Givichin)," Rutter said. "Weslin suffered a similar injury to his knee in that match as well."
Weslin defaulted his consolation finals match and took fourth.
Three Norway wrestlers - Zac Decremer (103), Cayleb Winkler (125) and Taylor Bonetti (152) - bowed in the district finals. Onaway's Isaac Nave pinned Decremer; Rogers City's Jacob Sobeck won a technical fall (17-0) over Winkler, and St. Ignace's James Cryderman decisioned Bonetti (14-0).
The Knights also notched a third from Jake Wetsel (130) and fourths from Jake Rehn (171) and Kasey Siegle (285)
"All the kids wrestled well, whether they moved on or not," Knights coach Nick Burklund said. "I saw a lot of progress this weekend."
