MENOMINEE - A Spalding man has died after the snowmobile he was driving struck trees on the Cedar River waterway over the weekend.

Menominee County Sheriff Kenny Marks said that at 11:15 p.m. Friday, a snowmobile struck trees on the Cedar River waterway, killing the driver.

There was no passengers on the snowmobile.

Two other snowmobiles were in the group, and no one else was injured, Mark said.

The crash scene was on the river, east of Kell Road in Spalding Township.

The driver, Timothy Dean Graham, 24, of Spalding, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Although the victim was wearing a helmet and protective equipment, Marks said the contributing factor of his death was head trauma.

Menominee County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash assisted by an accident investigator from the Michigan State Police Gladstone Post.

Marks said speed/loss of control and alcohol appeared to be contributing factors.

This incident remains under investigation.

Responding agencies included Hermansville Rescue, Rampart Paramedics, Spalding Township Volunteer Fire Department, Harris Township Volunteer Fire Department, Bark River Township Volunteer Fire Department, Menominee County Victim Services Unit, Michigan State Police Accident Reconstruction, County Medical Examiner, Hannahville Police, MSP and Menominee County Deputies.
