Arctic Blast football

New coaching staff named

KINGSFORD - U.P. Arctic Blast, a semi-pro football team based in Kingsford, has selected its coaching staff and board of directors for the upcoming 2013 season.

Russell Sargent has been named Blast head coach and Lee Rose will serve as assistant. The board of directors consists of Bill Durfee, president; Dawn Kranz, vice president; Tony Flaminio, interim treasurer; and Kyle Kranz and Jeremy MacDonald, board members.

The team has started practice sessions after hosting a series of successful player recruitment meetings. The 2011 Northern Lights Football League champions and 2012 Northern Extreme Football League runners-up are accepting players for a limited time.

Blast players must have completed their high school eligibility, and be at least 18 years of age. Player ages range from 18 to 49 years.
