NORWAY - Arthur Chartier Jr., 88, of Norway, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at his home in Norway.
He was born in Vulcan on Aug. 1, 1924, son of the late Arthur and Theresa (Vicenzi) Chartier Sr.
Art started working in the printing business at a young age with the Norway Current.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Art married LaRayne Canavera on Jan. 26, 1946, in St. Mary Catholic Church in Norway.
He started working for Northland Associate Grocers in 1963 and stayed there until his retirement in 1986.
Art was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Norway, on the board of directors of Michigan Financial Corporation, a member of Hall-DeWinter Post 145, American Legion and Norvulet Post 4581, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He enjoyed hunting and going to his camp, Indian Haven for more than 52 years, only missing one season of hunting. He enjoyed going camping in his motor home, bowling at the Rialto and spending time with his family.
Art is survived by his wife of 67 years, LaRayne; daughters, Diane (Gilbert) Koski of Green Bay, Wis., Linda (David) Beaster of Crystal Falls, and Karen (Bruce Stuck) Schorman of Quinnesec; son, David (Gail) Chartier of Niagara, Wis.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Clyde (Peggy) Chartier of Norway, Donald (Darlene) Chartier of Sturgeon Bay, Wis., and Marvin (Kathy) Chartier of Norway; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Michelle Schorman.
Family will greet friends on Friday, March 1 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Norway.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Timothy Ekaitis, presiding.
Interment will be held at the Norway Township Cemetery in the spring.
