MARQUETTE - Betty (Rocconi) Donovan, 70, of Marquette, entered eternal life Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at her home, in the loving care of her family and the caregivers of Lake Superior Hospice. Betty had been in ill health for the past eight months.
She was born March 26, 1942, daughter of Ludwig and Ann (Brunswick) Rocconi.
In 1965, Betty married Paul Donovan and they made their home in Marquette for the past 53 years.
Betty taught elementary classes in the Gwinn School System for 32 years, retiring in June 1997.
She enjoyed sports, playing South Beach volleyball and other venues over the years. She also was a downhill skier. Her pride was her flower garden with hibiscus and other plants covering the backyard.
Betty is survived by her husband, Paul Donovan; son, Todd (Amanda) of Paw Paw; daughter, Megan of Marquette; four grandchildren, Cory, Riley, Avery and Erin Donovan; and her brother, Roger Rocconi of Wisconsin.
Visitation will be held on Thursday at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain beginning at 11 a.m. (Central time) with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at noon with Rev. Daniel Zaloga as celebrant.
Burial will be made in Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
