Jail time for former Alpha clerk

CRYSTAL FALLS - A former Alpha clerk who embezzled village money has been sentenced to serve five months in the Iron County Jail.

Nicholas John Rickman, 34, of Alpha also must serve three years of probation and pay $6,987.36 in restitution.

Rickman had previously testified in court that he forged village officials' names on village checks and cashed the checks.

Iron County Prosecutor Melissa Powell pointed out that he forged and cashed checks on 13 occasions between March 1 and May 29 of last year.
