FLORENCE, Wis. - A Commonwealth, Wis. man sustained serious injuries to his left arm in an accident at a Florence County wood products company on Thursday.

Officials from the Florence County Sheriff's Department said that they were called to Northern Wood Products on County Road N in Commonwealth at 12:10 p.m. for a report of an injured man.

The 49-year-old man had been cleaning out a debarking machine when a fellow employee turned the machine on by accident, said officials.

Fellow employees extracted the man from the machine and applied a tourniquet to his arm.

Officials said that the man was transported to Dickinson County Hospital, and that his condition is stable at this time.

Assisting at the scene were the Aurora-Homestead Rescue Squad and Beacon Ambulance.
