Caleb Harrington represented the Flivvers on the Class ABC All-U.P. first team.
The Jets, with Coach of the Year Adam Mercier at the helm and three All-U.P. selections, advanced to the state semifinals for the first time since 1985.
And they did it without a senior on the roster.
Mercier, who piloted the Jets to Skyline and CUP league crowns with Carney-Nadeau, earned Class D Coach of the Year over Lake Linden's Jack Kumpula and Ewen-Trout Creek's Brad Besonen.
U.P. Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association meeting this week in Marquette named three Jets to U.P. status - junior Travis Vincent (15.5 points per game, 13 rebounds) topped Class D first-team selections; sophomore Rob Granquist (13 ppg) tallied second-team honors, and defensive standout Josh Granquist received special mention.
In other selections by the U.P. media, Negaunee junior guard Tyler Jandron (18.1 ppg) topped the "Dream Team" with a unanimous vote. Mid Peninsula's 6-foot-5 Brett Branstrom (25.2 ppg, 21.1 reb.), Ewen-Trout Creek's Dillon Gordon (28.5 ppg), Carney-Nadeau's Wade Schetter (22.5 ppg) and Marquette's 6-6 Mark Pap (13.3 ppg, 9.5 reb.) filled out the "Dream Team."
Jandron was the only choice for Class ABC Player of the Year. Branstrom topped Gordon for Class D Player of the Year.
"Dream Team" candidate Caleb Harrington of Kingsford (18.5 ppg, 8 reb., 5 assists) grabbed a Class ABC first-team berth with Hancock's 6-7 Alex Almquist (21.5 ppg, 11.6 reb., 4.2 blocks), Negaunee's Tanner Uren, Ironwood's Adam Mackey and Marquette's 6-7 AJ Grazulis.
Four area players tallied Class ABC second-team honors including Iron Mountain seniors Taylor Huotari (16.5 ppg) and Luke Zambon (15.6 ppg), Kingsford senior Aidan Wienke (15 ppg., 10 reb.) and West Iron County senior Austin Waara (14.8 ppg).
All-U.P. special mention also went to Norway's John Grayvold Jr., North Dickinson's Cody Berg and Forest Park's Austin Snell.
In the other coach of the year award, Negaunee's Mike O'Donnell was the lone Class ABC choice. O'Donnell coached the unbeaten Mid-Peninsula Conference champs to a third straight regional title.
Marquette, Class AB; Negaunee, Class C, and North Central, Class D, received team of the year.
