Spark & Echo to perform Friday

April 15, 2013
The Daily News

AURORA, Wis. - Spark & Echo, from New York City, will be performing, in concert, on Friday, April 19, at 7 p.m. at the Aurora Free Church.

Spark & Echo is a family band of songwriting-storytellers led by husband and wife duo Jonathon Roberts and Emily Clare Zempel.

Their music brings forgotten poetry and wild stories from the Bible to life: visions of sparkling wheels in the sky, hunger and thirst, and legends of love as strong as death weave with memorable melodies and captivating rhythms. Drawing from a classical background, influenced by the pianism of Rufus Wainwright and Ben Folds, and emulating Paul Simon's narratival techniques, Spark & Echo sings epic tales of love and adventure

"Enjoy beautiful vocal harmonies, intricate piano, bassoon, ukulele, and more as Spark and Echo explore the Bible through song," said a spokesperson.

They will be featuring songs from their recently released second album "Inheritance."

Jonathon and Emily will also be sharing an update on their non-profit Spark & Echo Arts, which is creating or commissioning a piece of art, music, theatre, poetry, dance or film covering every passage of the Bible. A freewill offering will be taken. Refreshments will be served after the concert.

"Bring a friend and join us to hear Jonathon and Emily echo the spark of the Bible through song," adds the spokesperson.
