ALBION - Albion College senior Kristin Nelson, who won the long and triple jumps in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree, has been named the league's Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this season.
A product of Iron Mountain, Nelson sailed 18-feet-1 in the long jump and 35-9.5 in the triple jump. She also placed third in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.47 and fifth in the javelin.
"Kristin produced a great individual effort that was part of a great team effort as a team," Albion Coach Lance Coleman said. "Kristin is a clutch closer, winning the long jump on her final attempt. The distance is the Albion College record and moves her into the top 20 in the country."
