SAULT STE. MARIE - An unidentified person was killed in a one-vehicle crash in Chippewa County Sunday, Michigan State Police at the Sault Ste. Marie Post reported.
The crash occurred on Six Mile Road near Brimley, troopers said.
State Police responded to a report of a vehicle crash at around 5:40 a.m. Sunday, and found that a vehicle had left the roadway, overturned and struck several trees.
Troopers located a dead individual, who is presumed to be the driver, inside the wreckage.
Authorities are still working to positively identify the driver and the vehicle. Police did not say whether the victim was male or female.
No further information will be released until the deceased has been identified and the next of kin notified, police said.
Michigan State Police were assisted at the scene by the Bay Mills Police Department, Chippewa County Sheriff's Office, U.S. Border Patrol, Bay Mills Emergency Connection Ambulance, and Superior Township Fire Department.
