Monica Gauthier

QUINNESEC - Monica Therese Ilenda Randall Gauthier, 75, of Quinnesec, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Dickinson County Hospital in Iron Mountain.

She was born on Jan. 10, 1938, in Duluth, Minn., daughter of the late Stanley and Eleanor (Szamatula) Ilenda. Monica grew up in Duluth and graduated from Proctor High School in 1955. She worked for North Central Airlines. Monica married Irving "Bud" Randall on Nov. 17, 1962; he preceded her in death on Oct. 17, 1974. She later married Victor "Vic" Gauthier on May 26, 1979; he preceded her in death on Nov. 14, 1999.

Monica was an active member of the American Martyrs Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary where she volunteered with the Super Bingo for many years, a 4-H Leader for more than30 years, secretary/treasurer of the Dickinson County Fair for many years and a member of the FCE (Family and Community Education). She also enjoyed quilting and cross-stitching and was active in the Spinning Spool Quilt Guild.

She is survived by one brother, Dr. Casmir (Bev) Ilenda of Holland, Pa.; one sister, Lenore "Nora" (Jim) Korkalo of Duluth; two sons, Stanley (Heather) Randall of Coweta, Okla. and Patrick (Carin) Randall of Quinnesec; two daughters, Kathleen "Katie" Randall of Chicago and Stephanie Gauthier of Quinnesec; five stepchildren, Patrick (Bev) Gauthier of Milan, Mich., Keith Gauthier of Stockridge, Mich., Mark Gauthier of Allen Park, Mich., Michelle (Ken) Steele of Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich., and Kimberly (Jim) Miller of Mesick, Mich.; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Andrew Ilenda and one grandson, Kyle Gauthier.

Visitation will be Friday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Prayers will be recited Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Joseph Gouin will officiate.

Burial will be in the Quinnesec Cemetery.

Memorials can be made in Monica's memory to Dickinson County Cancer Loan Closet of Iron Mountain; Almost Home Animal Shelter in Quinnesec; or the American Cancer Society.
