Ishpeming man dies in collision

L'ANSE - An Ishpeming man is dead after a pickup truck and logging truck collided on U.S. 41 in Covington Township today.

Deputies from the Baraga County Sheriff's Office are investigating the crash that occurred at 9:11 a.m. Wednesday.

Sheriff Bob Teddy said a pickup truck, driven by 53-year-old Randy Garceau of Ishpeming, collided with a logging truck driven by 47-year-old Anthony Beauchamp of Escanaba. Both drivers were transported to the Baraga County Memorial Hospital by ambulance, where Garceau was pronounced dead.

Beauchamp was treated and released.

The accident remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene were L'Anse Police Department, Michigan State Police, L'Anse Fire Department, Covington Fire Department, Covington Ambulance and Bay Ambulance.
