CRYSTAL FALLS - A Crystal Falls woman is facing a cold case murder charge out of Cook County, Illinois for the 1979 death of commodities broker Carl Gaimari.
Jacquelyn Greco, 66, appeared in Iron County Trial Court on Monday to waive extradition to Illinois.
She had been incarcerated in the Iron County Jail since her arrest on March 28. Initially, Greco had elected to fight extradition.
After the hearing on Monday, officials from the village of Inverness, Ill. arrived to take Greco into custody.
Mike Kirby of the Inverness Police Department confirmed that Greco is facing charges for the April 30, 1979 murder of Carl Gaimari.
Since the investigation is ongoing, Kirby was unable to release any additional information.
A May 2, 1979 edition of The Daily Herald newspaper out of Arlington Heights, Ill. states that Gaimari, a 34-year-old Chicago Board of Trade commodities broker, was killed during an apparent home invasion.
Investigators at the time believed that two masked men entered Gaimari's Inverness home, tied up and locked Gaimari's wife and two young children in a closet, and waited for Gaimari to return home from work.
The men then shot Gaimari multiple times in the chest with his own guns, The Daily Herald reported.
Gaimari's teenage daughter later discovered her father deceased in the basement, and her mother and siblings locked in the closet.
The Daily Herald lists Gaimari's wife's name as Jacqueline Gaimari.
Gaimari's name also came up in a more recent story, in which one of his former business associates was caught living under a stolen identity.
A July 23, 2011 Chicago Tribune story states that Arthur Jones, who was also on the Chicago Board of Trade, disappeared in 1979 days after Gaimari's death.
He reportedly had gambling problems and was nervous after Gaimari was killed.
Jones was declared legally dead in 1986.
However, Jones was found in Las Vegas in 2011 and was arrested for charges of burglary, identity theft, and fraud.
The Chicago Tribune reported that Jones was ordered to serve three years of probation and pay restitution to the Social Security Administration and his identity theft victim.
