KINGSFORD - Kingsford's boys cruised to a team win with 12 first-place finishes at a four-school track and field meet Tuesday at Flivver Field.

The Flivver boys totaled 103 points to top Houghton (72), West Iron County (43) and Stephenson (35).

"It was a great night for a track meet," Flivvers coach Doug Roberts said. "We really ran well and saw most of the guys improve their times, jumps and vaults."

Cole Tengesdahl had three firsts for the Flivvers, winning the 100 (11.57), 200 (23.65) and 400 relay (46.56). Ryan Camp and Danny Flemming both had their best pole vault heights with Camp going 11-6 for the win and Flemming clearing 10-6 for fourth.

Tyler Robers won the 400 with a time of 52.44 and also anchored the winning 1600 relay team. Mike Jamar jumped 5-9 for a personal best and first place in the high jump. Lucas Jennings won the 800 with a time of 2:11.75, anchored the winning 3200 relay team and took third in the mile.

In addition to the wins in 400 and 1600 relays, Kingsford also won the 3200 relay. The 400 was run by Ben Moreau, Tengesdahl, Jaxson Ferree and Quintin Pratt. Jake Allen, Ferree, Jack Glodowski and Roberts handled the 1600, and Jacob Allen, Devin Wickman, Austin Stanchina and Jennings ran the 3200.

Kingsford also dominated in the hurdles. Ed Sexton won the 100 (17.01) and John Cripe took the 300 (43.9).

"I was really happy with our hurdlers," Roberts said. "When senior Nick Maycunich got hurt over spring break, we really took a hit in the hurdling department. Over the past two weeks our hurdlers have all improved and really stepped up. Nick continues to come to every practice and work with them along with volunteer hurdler coach Tracy Roberts."

Dan Flemming and Taylor Wickman placed fourth and fifth in the 100 hurdles, and Fleming added a second in the 300.

Hilding Beaudoin won the discus with a throw of 138-11.5, and Mike Jamar was first in the high jump (5-9) for the Flivvers.

West Iron County ran to victory in the 800 relay. Chasz Jonet was first in the shot put with 40-6.5, and Ryan Rogers won the long jump with 17-8.

West Iron County claimed the girls title, topping Houghton 90.5 to 83.5. Kingsford was third with 64 points followed by Stephenson with 13.

Firsts for the Wykons included Cassilyn Pellizzer sweeping the hurdles, going 17.63 in the 100 and 50.03 in the 300. Victoria Harris-Hoogenboom also posted two wins, taking the 1600 (5:59.4) and the 3200 (13:26.84). Megan Miatech won the shot put with a throw of 32-11.75.

The Wykons also won the 1600 relay in 4:32.69.

Carlee Benzie was a triple winner, taking the 100 (13.31), 200 (27.52) and long jump (16-2). Hannah Tresedder won the 400 (1:05.15), and Kingsford took the 800 (1:53.4) and 400 (54.35) relays.

"I thought we ran pretty well," Flivvers coach Lisa Harry said. "Our lack of depth hurts us, but overall I am happy with the progress we are making. The girls are working really hard and improving each meet."
