Child exposed to meth chemicals

IRON RIVER - A child was not injured after being exposed to an unknown liquid while playing on playground equipment at Bachman Park in Iron River on Wednesday morning.

Iron River Police Department responded to Bachman Park in Iron River at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Police said a child had been exposed to an unknown liquid while playing on playground equipment.

Troopers from the Iron Mountain Post responded to assist.

A burst vessel (pop bottle) was found nearby containing an unknown liquid. Further investigation revealed four additional containers at a nearby park, identified as Nanalmo Park.

Methamphetamine specialists from the UPSET narcotics team responded and collected all items that were determined to be methamphetamine precursor materials.

The eight-year-old child was not injured.

Iron River Police were assisted by troopers from the Iron Mountain Post and detectives from the UPSET Methamphetamine Task Force.
