BRIDGMAN, Mich. - Norma Ida Duquaine, formerly of Green Bay, Wis., and Kingsford, passed away peacefully at Woodland Terrace in Bridgman on April 22, 2013.
Norma was born on Dec. 19, 1930, in Algoma, Wis., to Arthur and Erna Nell. She was a proud graduate of Bellin College School of Nursing and maintained a career in the nursing field throughout her life.
On June 28, 1957, Norma married Michael Duquaine in Green Bay and cherished nearly 28 years of marriage. They were blessed with three wonderful daughters. Norma was active in her church and community and was also an avid gardener. She loved singing in the choir at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain, and Grace Lutheran Church in Green Bay where she also practiced her unwavering faith.
Planning holiday menus and cooking for many family gatherings was another favorite pastime. Norma treasured any opportunity to be with her grandchildren. They were the love of Norma's life and a great source of pride and joy. She made each grandchild feel special and made a point to celebrate his or her accomplishments.
In addition to her husband Norma was preceded in death by her daughter, Marie Nielsen.
Norma is survived by her two daughters, Michelle Vukorpa (Victor) of St. Joseph, Mich., and Yvonne Chanda (Todd) of Neenah, Wis.; seven grandchildren, Erik (Janelle) and Eileen Neilsen, Meghan, Caitlin and Kelly Vukorpa, and Michael and Jacob Chanda; two great-grandchildren, Connor and Kinsley Neilsen; her sister, Irmgard Taylor, of Milwaukee; also many close relatives and dear friends.
According to Norma's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private Memorial Service will be held at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bellin School of Nursing or the charity of your choice.
