Anne Guiliani

IRON MOUNTAIN - Anne B. Guiliani, 94, of Iron Mountain, died Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Freeman Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in Kingsford.

She was born on June 28, 1918, in Hermansville, the daughter of John and Barbara Shefchik. Anne married Louis Guiliani in 1936, and raised three daughters, Bonnie, Dorothy and Kathleen. During her daughters' school years, Anne served as a room mother and Brownie Troop leader. Later in life, she volunteered at the Community Mental Health Center as a activities assistant. After her husband's death in 1983, she moved to Hulst Manor in Iron Mountain, where she lived the remainder of her life. Anne was the first social director at Hulst Manor, and organized many enjoyable events for her fellow residents.

Anne had many hobbies, namely embroidery, card games and ceramics. She especially enjoyed sharing her many life experiences with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her independent spirit will forever be an inspiration to those who knew her.

She leaves her daughters, Bonnie Spanton and Dorothy Guiliani, both of Iron Mountain; her granddaughters, Dawn (Kyle) Kranz of Kingsford, Sue Ocasio of Iron Mountain and Cindy (Bud) Miller of Kingsford; great-grandchildren, Brian Pierce of Madison, Wis., Jessica and Bryce Hurkmans of Kingsford, Alex and Jason Ocasio of Iron Mountain; a brother, Jack (Alice) Shefchik of Garden City, Nev.; a sister, Elizabeth Waldner of Chicago; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Louis; her daughter, Kathleen; brother, Anton; and sisters, Rose Couveau and Barbara Desmarias.

Visitation will be Friday from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Father Daniel Zaloga will officiate. Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.
