Beaulier routs Marquette Reds

Pair of pitching gems in Little League Major baseball action

QUINNESEC - Brett Swanson and Kyle Hennes each ripped three hits as Beaulier Buildings of the Kingsford Little League senior division downed the Marquette Reds American Legion team 13-4.

Beaulier pitchers Swanson, Hennes and David McCole struck out nine.

McCole doubled in Beaulier's 15-hit attack. Brady Hicks, Joe Linn and Reid Berndt tallied two singles apiece.

Beaulier coaches commended the outstanding defensive effort, playing error-free ball in the seven-inning game.

Cooper Office swept a doubleheader from Aurora, 7-2 and 3-1.

Jake Cousineau pitched a complete game in the opener, allowing two hits and whiffing three.

Cooper's Sam Santi and Jake Lefebvre notched two-hit games. Spencer Davis homered and doubled for Aurora,

In the nightcap, Thomann and Kyle Johnson allowed two hits and whiffed eight.

Newcomer Brady Erickson recorded his first hit for Cooper.

Allen Painting & Decorating, with pitchers Noah Voss and Daniel Harrington allowing four hits over seven innings, defeated Beaulier Buildings 10-3.

Voss, Bubba Johnson and Gage Yaggie each tagged two of APD's eight hits. Harrington and Alex Blaskowski contributed singles.

Beaulier's Joe Linn, David McCole, Brady Hicks and Kyle Henes each singled in the game.

...Kingsford Lions, behind a 15-strikeout, complete-game effort by Daunte Fortner, tripped Florence 9-3 in Little League major action.

Fortner added two singles and double at the plate. Nate Henes hit two doubles, Jack Perpich singled twice, and Logan Normand had a double and a single.

...Niagara's Anthony Hanson fired his first Little League no hitter in a 10-0 major win over Norway Kiwanis. Hanson, fanning nine in the win, also went 2-for-3 at the plate. Landon Kaldor cranked a two-run homer in the first and also added a single. Excellent team defense was also noted in the win.

Schneider Iron and Metal beat Big 10, 15-5 in girls major league softball. Sam Cross fanned nine batters and Cassie Barglind struck out two while combining to allow just one hit on the night. Getting big hits to open the game up in the final three innings were Brooke Kriegl, Maggie Strehlow, Sam Maycunich, Annie McCole and Sam Cross.

Kingsford Antonios downed Iron Mountain FNB 10-8 in junior/senior league softball. Mariah Clement and Molly Wahoviak led Antonios to victory in the circle, combining for six strikeouts. Molly Menequz hit a pair of doubles, and Clement added a triple and a single for Antonios. Sierra Fortner, Wahoviak, Olivia Lorenzoni, Cierra Dober, Abby Tomasisko, Sabrina Wickman and Sydney Wickman added singles.

...Abby Zander's home run and double sparked Arms of Angels Transportation past Iron River Krist Oil 14-4 in Little League major softball.

Starting pitcher Zander struck out eight and walked three. Kate Cook pitched one inning of relief.

AAT's Abby Terrian, Sarah Premo, Kalyn Myllyla and Olivia Olkkonen also stroked two hits.

Riley Stein pitched for Krist Oil. Coaches commended her defense, along with Kassi Morgan's work behind the plate in the win.

...Felch Charlevoix Logging/Hord Racing, behind Sara Borvan's grand slam homer, downed Norway Thirsty Whale in Little League junior-senior softball.

Borvan cleared the fence with her home run and added four more hits in Felch's fourth win of the season.

Lexi Steele and Adel Isaacson pitched for Felch.
