Stephenson man taken into custody

TOWN OF STEPHENSON, Wis. - A 59-year-old town of Stephenson man was taken into protective custody for a self-inflicted gun shot wound on Sunday.

Deputies from the Marinette County Sheriff's Department responded to a disturbance in the town of Stephenson on Sunday around 4:30 p.m.

The incident was controlled and there is no longer a threat to the public.

No one else was injured.

The name of the subject is not being released at this time.

Agencies assisting at the scene were Oconto County Sheriff'fs Department, Department of Natural Resources, Crivitz Police Department, Twin Bridge Rescue and Bay Area Medical Center.

Brown County's Bear Cat (armored vehicle) was requested to assist the sheriff's department, but was called off prior to arriving at the scene.
