CRYSTAL FALLS - Norway's Spinal Solutions blanked Crystal Falls in Little League junior baseball.
Connor Ortman worked a complete game, striking out five and allowing one hit and one walk.
Spinal Solution's 17-run, 12-hit attack included two doubles from Josh Dapoz. Caleb Tinkey hit two singles and a double, and Ortman cracked a single and a double.
In another junior contest, U.P. Pump edged Spinal Solutions 8-7. Kevin Sorensen, Chase Kreski and Ryan Deau pitched for UP Pump. They combined for four strikeouts and three walks. Wyatt Caylor, Darren Wood and Austin VanPembrook pitched for Spinal Solutions. Lucas Andreini singled and tripled, Sawyer Perpich hit two singles and Deau added a double for U.P. Pump. For Spinal Solutions, Andrew Furee hit three singles, and Jordan Monosso added two singles.
Dairy Queen defeated Econo Foods 8-4 in Little League major baseball. Andrew Paupore led DQ's offense with a triple, double and single, and Nate Rutter added a double and a single. Luke Terrian also added a double and a single.
Luke Terrian and Paupore pitched for DQ striking out 12 and walking two. Cole Galleazzi had two singles and Tyler Povolo added a double for Econo.
In more major action, UCT improved to 11-0, beating Elks 10-1 and North Dickinson 6-2.
Against Elks CJ Bolo started for UCT, working three innings, while Tyler Beauchamp worked the final three innings. They combined for 13 strikeouts while allowing only one hit. Foster Wonders and Jergen Kleiman worked the mound for Elks. Wonders fanned five, while Kleiman struck out one.
UCT bats were led by Brandon Proudfit with two doubles. Beauchamp also doubled. Bolo and Ian Anderson each tagged two singles. Nick Saari also singled. Kleiman singled for Elks.
Against North Dickinson, Beauchamp pitched 5 1/3 innings before reaching his pitch count, striking out 12, walking one and allowing one hit. Bolo came in to finish the game, giving up one run. Joe Roell pitched for North Dickinson giving up three hits, walking six and striking out six.
Giovanni Colavecchi came on in relief. UCT hits were from Anderson and Ryan Hakamaki (singles) and Beauchamp with a triple. Sonny Tolonen had a hit for North Dickinson.
Norway Big 10 Bar & Grill defeated Niagara in a five-inning Little League major softball game.
Fueling Big Ten's 23-run outburst was home runs by Allison Sheski and Ada Van Holla. Van Holla also tripled. Lilly Van Loon, Amanda Bekkala doubled, with Bekkala adding a single. Kelsey Carlson, Riley Hendricks, Kelly Grailer and Faith Miller all singled. Cassidy Menard and Danae Anderson both had two singles.
Niagara's Destinay Bourassa collected a single in the second inning. Menard debuted at pitcher for Big 10, turning in a five-strikeout performance in two innings.
Schneider Iron & Metal and Lofholm's of Norway combined for 22 runs and one hit at Lodal Park.
Schneider emerged with a 14-8 victory as pitchers Cassie Barglind and Samantha Cross each struck out seven while giving up only one hit.
Norway pitcher Mikayla Faull also struck out seven and pitched a no-hitter. She had the only hit of the night for either team.
Lindeman Logo Sportswear, with all 11 girls recording at least one hit, outscored Alpha Krist Oil 34-22.
Becca Hirthe blasted her first two home runs of the season along with two triples and a double. Mikayla Ray added two triples and a double; Brook Blaskowski, triple, and Hannah Dober, double.
An eight-run sixth inning sealed the victory for Lindeman.
Antonio's, behind the one-hit pitching of Molly Wahoviak, topped Norway Thirsty Whale 3-1 in junior-senior softball. She also struck out five.
Antonio's collected hits from Abby Tomasoski, Mariah Clement, Sydney Wickman, Cierra Dober and Wahoviak.
Norway pitcher Rachel Conery fanned four and Bobbi Hulce socked a triple.
