IRON MOUNTAIN - The Dickinson/Iron Great Start Collaborative has collaborated with Greenway Books to host a book swap from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
Greenway Books is located at 725 River Ave. in Iron Mountain.
Parents and children are invited to bring gently used books to exchange. Books will be used for new book mailboxes which have been placed throughout the community by Great Start Early Literacy Team members.
The Great Start Collaborative is Michigan's nationally recognized statewide initiative to foster school readiness and life success for young children. Great Start is guided by a vision that every child in Michigan deserves to be healthy, safe, eager, and ready for school success on the first day of kindergarten.
"The early literacy initiative is focused on the concept that once a child becomes a reader, they are always a reader and committed to educational excellence," said Great Start Parent Facilitator Jonathan Ringel. "We are thrilled to provide this opportunity for children to swap and share books while helping to support additional books for our book mailbox initiative."
"All children and family members are welcome to attend," said Jane Wilson of Greenway Books. "All children will go home with children's books."
