KINGSFORD - Steven W. Stafford, 59, of Kingsford, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at his home.
Steve was born on July 5, 1953, in Iron Mountain and was the first of eight children born to William and Sally (Will) Stafford. He has been a resident of this area his entire life and was a 1971 graduate of Kingsford High School.
After graduating from high school he attended Northern Michigan University. Steve worked for many years as an auto body repairman and most recently has worked as an insurance inspector. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Steve loved racing and especially drag racing. He built and raced his own rail dragster and 1957 Chevy Nomad. He also enjoyed working in his garden. The pride and joy, and loves of his life were his daughters, Allison and Kristen.
Steven is survived by his daughters, Allison Stafford of Davenport, Iowa and Kristen Stafford of Oak Park, Ill.; mother and father, William and Sally Stafford of Kingsford; brothers and sisters, Alan (Nancy) Stafford of Oceanview, Hawaii, Annette (Richard) VanHulla of Kingsford, David Stafford of Kingsford, Kelly (Lori) Stafford of DePere, Wis., Todd Stafford of Naperville, Ill. and Richard Stafford of Kingsford; nieces and nephews, Lisa, Sally, Brenda, Jason, John, Jennifer, James and Desiree; great nieces and nephews, David, Bryce, Cady, Scarlett, Raymond, Aliyah, ShyAnne, Krystyna and Larry
Steve was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Stafford.
Visitation will be on Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Kingsford Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at American Martyrs Church in Kingsford. Fr. Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his memory.
