Early Saturday morning, the team circled up in the street to stretch led by Nordic students Tim Hruska, Lexi Steele and Matthew Schultz. The race started at 8 a.m.
The Nordics were easy to spot along the race course in blaze orange team T-shirts that the PTO purchased for the group. The design was picked as the winner in the High School Challenge T-shirt contest. The streets were lined with people cheering, holding signs and spreading words of encouragement to all of the runners.
"It was an amazing event to be a part of," said North Dickinson coordinator Angela Jungwirth.
Tony Cousineau posted the fasted time for the Nordics (45:27) and Dominic Christian led the students (50:39).
North Dickinson County School's Bellin Challenge members expressed appreciation to sponsors Champion Inc., Hord Racing, Nordic Grocery, MVA Enterprises, Shirt Tails, ND PTO, WalMart and Orthopedic Sports Medicine Specialists of Green Bay.
"The sponsors helped make the trip possible and affordable for all of the students," Jungwirth said. "The Nordics plan to make the Bellin Run an annual event and encourage other schools to join the challenge next year."
