EAGLE RIVER, Wis. - The Enchanted doll Club of the Northwoods will begin its summer meeting schedule by holding its next meeting on Thursday, June 20, at 1 p.m. in the Olson Memorial Library in Eagle River.
The doll club will discuss their 35th Annual Doll Show and Sale to be held at the Kalmar Community Center on Aug. 10, 2013. Also on the agenda will be planning a July field trip to Puddy's Dream in Weyauwega, Wis.
After the business meeting, Carolyn Guiliani of Iron River, will present a program on Terri Lee dolls. The Terri Lee doll was first made in 1946. The doll was based on a sculpture of a two-year-old and had an extensive wardrobe. Guiliani will have several examples to share with the doll club members.
GERI VIEAUX OF Rhinelander, Wis., presented a program on 1920s half dolls. Vieaux is pictured with a variety of half dolls. She is shown illustrating how some half dolls were actually constructed with a wire base.
At the last meeting Geri Vieaux presented a program on half dolls. Half dolls were popular in the 1920s. Most were made of porcelain and were made in Germany. They were used to make items such as pin cushions, vases and even lamp shades.
