FLORENCE, Wis. - The Florence County Fairgrounds will be getting a facelift in time for this year's fair on Aug. 23 through 25.
Fair executive director Jessica Klumpp said that work on a brand new building, which will serve as a pavilion, stage, beer stand, and kitchen, is almost complete.
Construction on the project started earlier this month. The building will be fully functional in time for the fair.
Volunteers have done all of the work on the project, Klumpp added.
Since fair officials have been concentrating on the new building this year, county officials have decided to help out with repairs to one of the existing buildings.
During their monthly meeting on Tuesday, members of the Florence County Board of Supervisors agreed to transfer between $600 to $1,000 from their general fund to the fair for repairs on the old pavilion/stage.
The Florence County Fairgrounds are located on County Road N, just south of Florence.
In other business, the county board:
- Approved to sell 2.93 acres of land at Keyes Lake Campground to Leland Nelson for $6,622. According to a letter from Florence County Forestry and Parks Administrator Patrick Smith, Nelson has been leasing this property from the county for a long time.
- Approved to advertise for a new permanent part-time disability benefit specialist position. The position, which is grant-funded, is for 14 to 16 hours per week.
