Holmes-Gunville lead Oak Crest men's league

NORWAY - Greg Holmes and Mark Gunville have moved into the "B" Division lead after six weeks of the Forward Financial Monday Night Golf League.

Holmes-Gunville top the Oak Crest Golf Course circuit with 17 points. Ron Calcaterra-Don Benzie lead "A" Division with 17 points.

Mike Solda fired a par 36 for "A" medalist. Todd Brasure paced "B" with a 40.

'Scotch' Thursday - Pine Grove Country Club's "Scotch" golf will be held Thursday.

Call the pro shop for tee times and dinner reservations.

Oak Crest junior tourney - Oak Crest Golf Course will host a junior tournament for all golfers age 8-18 on Monday, June 24. Start time is 8 a.m.

Ryan Gordon, Oak Crest head professional, said youngsters age 8-10 will play nine holes; age 11-13, nine holes, and age 14-18, 18 holes.

Entry fee ($10) include golf, lunch and prizes.

Senior king - Dale Bayer of Wawonowin Golf Club won the championship flight of the UPGA Senior Men's Championship at Gladstone Golf Club.

Bayer, who won for the second consecutive year, shot a 146 (72-74) to prevail by by two strokes over Scott Saari of Wawonowin (76-72), Matt Smith Jr. of Irish Oaks (72-76) and John McKinnon of St. Ignace (76-72).

Rounding out championship flight were Paul Schrader of Escanaba Country Club (149), Mark Ray of Highland (150), Tom LaVigne of Pine Grove and George Boline of Gogebic (151).

'Tee to Green' results - Barb Biolo and Jan Doucette each shot 37 to share top honors in the Oak Crest Ladies League's "Tee to Green" event.

Annie Greenwood, 38, placed second, followed by Linda Depew, 41.

Blind draw winners were Barb Perry and Ellen Roberts.
