The Daily News

OAKLAND, Calif. - Dolores M. Warmuth, 87, of Oakland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 23, 2013, at her home in Oakland after a short illness.

Dolores was born on July 17, 1925, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Ignatz and Lena (Schwenner) Warmuth. She graduated from Felch High School in 1943. She worked at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba which inspired her to go on to receive a degree from St. Scholastica College in Duluth, Minn.

In 1950, she and her college roommate, Evelyn Rother, ventured across the country and settled in Oakland where they both found positions in the medical field and have resided ever since. Dolores worked in different doctors' offices and then worked as a medical technologist at Summit Medical Center for many years until her retirement.

She was an active member of St. Leo Catholic Church in Oakland for many years. Dolores enjoyed gardening, cooking, needlepoint, knitting and collecting coins.

After her retirement, she attended different senior centers and learned many new crafts which she shared as gifts with her friends and family.

In her younger years, she would trek back to Michigan every summer to visit family and friends. She was a health enthusiast and always enjoyed riding bicycles with her nieces and nephews when she was here. One of her big accomplishments was riding bicycles to Escanaba and back with one of her nieces.

Dolores is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Charlotte Warmuth of Kingsford; sisters, Marie DeMuri and Gertrude Koller of Iron Mountain; and many nieces and nephews.

Dolores was preceded in death by her brothers, David and Frank Warmuth; brothers-in-law, Joseph Koller and Guido DeMuri; sisters-in-law, Mary Lu Warmuth and Marge (Warmuth) McNeil; nephews, Al Jarvis and Barry Cohodes; great-nephew, Todd Schoen; and her dear friend, Evelyn Rother on June 22, 2013.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.
