Pedestrian injured in crash

MARQUETTE - Marquette City Police responded to pedestrian and motor vehicle accident Friday night.

The accident occurred at approximately 10:22 p.m. at the intersection of South Front Street and Genesee Street in South Marquette. Upon arrival, officers found a 51-year-old Marquette man had been struck by a northbound vehicle as he crossed South Front street, a press release said.

According to police, when the victim crossed the street another northbound vehicle in the outside lane had slowed for him. At the same time a 2001 Nissan sedan driven by a 34-year-old Eben man was driving northbound on South Front street in the left lane and was unable to stop in time and collided with the pedestrian.

The 51-year-old Marquette man was taken to Marquette General Hospital with severe injuries. Condition of the man is unknown. No further information is being released at this time.
