HARDWOOD - Robert C. Wagner, 78, of Hardwood, died Monday, July 1, 2013, at the home of his son in Hardwood.
He was born on Aug. 6, 1934, in Wheeler, Wis., son of the late John and Esther (Gulseth) Wagner. Bob graduated from Felch High School in 1952 and attended Coyne Electrical School.
On Aug. 11, 1956, he married Ruth Schollin at Mission Covenant Church in Foster City.

Bob ran a dairy farm until he was called to serve in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1960, where he was stationed at Fort Lewis, Wash.
Following his military service, he moved back to the family farm. From 1964 to 1966, Bob worked construction in Chicago, where he got his carpenters card. He then moved back to Foster City in 1966 and started working construction for Champion Inc. In 1980 he moved to his home in Hardwood.
Bob took his Master Commercial Carpenter Exam through American General Contractors in June 1990. He was one of two people in Michigan and one of only 52 people in the entire nation to pass the exam on the first attempt. He worked for Champion Inc. for more than 30 years, retiring as a superintendent in 1993. After his retirement he raised Christmas trees and helped his son, Jon raise ginseng.
Bob was dedicated to his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was his grandchildren's biggest fan, attending many of their athletic events. He was an avid hunter and baseball fan, cheering for the Detroit Tigers. Bob was member of the Carpenters Union Local 1510 and the Eastern Dickinson Sportsmen's Club.
Bob is survived by his wife, Ruth; three children, Steven (Tina) Wagner of Foster City, Kris Moore of Saginaw, and Jon (Tammy) Wagner of Hardwood; three sisters, Violet Pearson of Norway, Alice Badgett of Escanaba and Barbara (Karl) Bosk of Escanaba; six grandchildren, Stacee (Nate) Anderson of Foster City, Schollin (Ray) Johnson of Milwaukee, Damon Wagner of Hardwood, Derek Wagner of Hardwood, Jared Wagner of Foster City, and Devin Wagner of Hardwood; four great-grandchildren, Alex Johnson, Annika Johnson, Samuel Anderson and Brianna Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Dick Wagner; one sister, Opal Richards; one niece, Janis Ann Wagner; one nephew, Zackary Badgett; and three brothers-in-law, Roy Pearson, Jack Badgett and John Richards.
Visitation will be Friday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Mission Covenant Church in Foster City.
Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. at the church, Rev. Carl Hammer will officiate.
Burial will be in Foster City Cemetery.
