Nicholas Noyce, left, 32, is sentenced to 2 to 3 years in prison in Dickinson County District Court on Tuesday. He appears in court with attorney Mike Scholke of Iron Mountain.
Attorney Mike Scholke of Iron Mountain said his client, Nicholas Lee-Alan Noyce, 32, is prepared to accept a three-year prison term and hopes to be better person afterward.
Noyce pleaded no contest to charges.
Scholke added that Noyce is a native of Flint and has no have plans to return to the U.P. once he is released from prison.
Dickinson County Prosecuting Attorney Lisa Richards said the charges are Noyce's seventh and eighth felony convictions. She said Noyce was less than a model inmate having been given 41 misconduct tickets while in prison.
Richards added that the parole agent said Noyce is a threat to public safety and will re-offend.
Noyce victimized a seven-year-old child who was quoted as saying, "He made me do gross stuff to him."
"The community needs protection from him," Richards said.
Noyce had nothing to say at his sentencing.
According to the felony complaint, the incidents occurred between July and October 2012 and involved a victim less than the age of 16.
Court records said pornography was shown to the female victim on two separate occasions. He is also accused of exposing himself.
Judge Mary B. Barglind said the actions Noyce engaged in with this young girl were "gross and disturbing."
"I can't imagine what goes on in your head except that it must be a complete act of selfishness that you don't care about who you are doing it to," Judge Barglind said. "The why doesn't matter, but the fact that you did it to an innocent naive type of people does. Your conduct sickens me, to look at you sickens me to think what you did to that little girl, made her look at and what you tried to make her do."
Judge Barglind imposed a prison sentence to Noyce.
He was ordered to serve a minimum of 36 months to a maximum of two years on count one and a minimum of 24 months to a maximum of three years on count two. He was given credit for 173 days served.
"I don't know if there is any cure for you, but I hope there is and that you change. I didn't even hear an apology today, so my hopes are probably just stated," Judge Barglind said.
Felony charges of criminal sexual conduct (assault with intent to commit sexual penetration) and aggravated indecent exposure were dismissed at sentencing.
