IRON MOUNTAIN - Norway shook off an early deficit and downed Kingsford 11-4 in a battle of Little League minor baseball pre-district unbeatens Thursday at Iron Mountain's Larry Barkle Eastside Field.
Norway advanced to the district finals, awaiting the unbeaten from the Escanaba pre-district for a 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, clash at Barkle Field.
Kingsford, which dropped to the elimination bracket, will meet Iron Mountain North at 6 tonight at Barkle Field. The winner will qualify for the district tournament.

Kingsford jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning but it was all Norway from there. Norway, with Zach Seat delivering a ringing double, tallied five runs in the second inning.
Drew Anderson doubled when Norway tacked on four more runs in the fourth inning. Gannon Bray also notched his second solid hit of the game in the fourth.
With Norway owning a 9-2 cushion after four innings, Kingsford came back in the fifth with a two-run single from Charlie Schaefer.
Jeff VanHolla, Evan Anderson and Logan Parolini also aided the Norway attack. Carter Kreski singled twice for Kingsford.
In the first game Thursday, three pitchers combined on a two-hit shutout as Iron Mountain North blanked Iron County 7-0.
Nick Saari doubled for North, which plated three runs in the second inning and three in the third. Tommy Showers doubled for Iron County.
