A seasonal home at 2067 Town Road L in Spread Eagle, Wis. was destroyed yesterday morning after lightning struck a gas line near the structure.

The owners were not at the residence, located just north of Montgomery Lake, and there were no injuries.

A preliminary investigation by the Florence Fire Department indicates that a lightning strike to a tree and gas line near the residence was the cause of the fire, Gribble said.

The Florence Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Florence County Sheriff's Office, Florence Rescue Squad, Aurora Fire Department, Breitung Township Fire Department and We Energies.
