In 1940 she married Ernest (Ernie) Jensen and they moved to Detroit where daughters Karen and Kay were born. At the end of World War II in 1945 they returned to the area, bought a home in East Kingsford, had a third child - a son, Kim - and remained in the same home until Ruth moved to Golden Living Center in Florence in 2009. Her husband, Ernie died in 1986.

Most years Ruth was a housewife. She returned to work as the office bookkeeper for Summit Dairy and Michigan Manufacturing, and later worked for Doucette Accounting. Lastly, she worked as an accountant/bookkeeper for Bill Strand, CPA until her retirement in 1980.

Ernie and Ruth spent their retirement years wintering in Arcadia, Fla. During the summer they enjoyed their camp, Big Bend, on the Michigamme River which they built in 1960. They loved to travel and joined senior citizen trips. Ruth's favorite trip was to Maine and eastern Canada. They also enjoyed locating old logging camps and searching for old buried bottles. As a result they were instrumental in founding the Dickinson County Bottle Club.

After Ernie died, Ruth remained active doing volunteer work for First United Presbyterian Church and taking orders for pasty sales at the Masonic Lodge where she was a member of the Eastern Star for more than 50 years.

She leaves three children, Karen Jensen of Sarasota, Fla., Kay (Don) Nelson of Brighton, Mich., and Kim (Carol) Jensen of Iron Mountain; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kingsford Funeral Home.

The funeral service will follow Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Michael March will officiate. The members of the Order of the Eastern Star will also conduct a memorial ceremony in her honor.

The burial will be in the Quinnesec Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank her doctors, especially Dr. Jacobs, and the medical caregivers at Golden Living Center for helping her to live such a good and long life.

In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established in her memory.
