IRON MOUNTAIN - Charter Communications cable TV customers in Iron Mountain-Kingsford will miss coverage of the Green Bay Packers annual Family Night scrimmage Saturday.
The event is being televised in Green Bay on WLUK-TV FOX 11, which is not carried by Charter in Iron Mountain-Kingsford.
The Packers Network station on Charter cable is FOX UP (Channel 11) in Marquette, which will carry the Packers for the 2013 regular season. FOX UP however, won't be airing Saturday's Family Night scrimmage.
"Unfortunately, even though we are an affiliate of the Packers Network, we don't have the rights to broadcast that event," said Kim Parker, the station's marketing director.
Other Packers programming, such as the Mike McCarthy Show, Packers Live and Packers Extra, will all be carried in 2013, Parker added.
Green Bay's pre-season games will air on FOX UP's sister station, WLUC-TV6 (NBC), except for the Friday, Aug. 23, contest against Seattle, which is a national game on CBS.
Packers fans may view Family Night coverage on Iron Mountain's Northside TV (UP North Cable) or Niagara's Community TV Co-op. Both systems carry WLUK-TV FOX 11, which will begin coverage at 6:30 p.m. (Like Charter, Norway's cable TV system excludes WLUK.)
For the regular season - on Sundays when both the Packers and Detroit Lions are covered by FOX - the Packers will take priority at Marquette's FOX UP.
Barring changes, Lions fans are scheduled to miss six broadcasts during the 2013 season: Sept. 15 at Arizona; Sept. 22 at Washington; Oct. 13 at Cleveland; Nov. 10 at Chicago; Nov. 24 vs. Tampa Bay; and Dec. 29 at Minnesota.
Lions pre-season games will air in Iron Mountain-Kingsford on WJMN-TV Channel 3 (CBS) of Escanaba/Marquette.
