Elizabeth Marie Turrie Hoyum

IRON?MOUNTAIN - Elizabeth Marie Turrie Hoyum, 95, of Green Bay, Wis., formerly of Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at Unity Hospice, St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay.

She was born June 22, 1918, in Henrietta, Okla., daughter of the late Louis and Mary (Giradi) Caresia.

Elizabeth lived in Iron Mountain for over 84 years and spent winters in Florida for over 30 years. The last several years she resided in Green Bay with her daughter and family.

She was known by many as a wonderful seamstress as well as a friend to everyone she met. Elizabeth to date has received over 50 cards each birthday from friends all over the United States and Canada. She had been a long standing member of St. Mary & St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Suzanne (James) Miller, Green Bay, Phyllis (William) Boyle, Naples, Fla.; one son, Harvey (Diane) Hoyum, Chassell, Mich.; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and special friend Pamela (John) Pierce, Fort Myers, Fla.

In addition to her beloved husband Harvey, who passed away in April 2005, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her daughter, Marcella Staples Collins; son, Raymond Hoyum and wife Cheri; granddaughter, Samantha Smoot; and grandson, Christopher Hoyum.

Visitation will be held Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. Prayers will be recited 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at the funeral home.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary & St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. Rev. Fr. Dan Zaloga will officiate.

Burial will be in Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain.
