CRYSTAL FALLS - Forest Park's young roster may foster hope for Lady Trojans' volleyball foes.

On the other hand, Forest Park still looks to remain the perennial Skyline Conference power.

"We look young on paper, but we have a lot of girls who saw playing time last season," said Coach Kim Bjork, assisted by Ashley Metz and Kim Payne. "We have some incoming juniors who should make an impact right away. I'm happy with our team dynamic. We don't have a lot of girls, but have a well rounded group."

Forest Park returns Skyline Conference MVP Lexi Gussert and All-Skyline pick Maria Stankewicz. Kendra Campbell, Hannah Marinoff, Michaela Steiro and Libby Shamion also lettered last season.

Gussert, Campbell and Marinoff are the only seniors. There's four juniors and three sophomores.

Defensive specialist Gina Graff, Mindy DeNell, Abby Sommers and Maria DeMuri graduated from the state quarterfinalists. They wound up 36-1-4 overall and 12-0 Skyline.

"Like every year we need to get into volleyball mode and work hard all season," said Bjork, whose Trojans open the season today in the Kingsford Invitational at Iron Mountain. "I expect North Dickinson will give us a challenge in the Skyline Conference. We should have a good season if we stay focused."
