Preview Day at Dickinson County Fair

NORWAY - It's Labor Day weekend, and that means the Dickinson County Fair will be taking over Norway with carnival rides, exhibits, food, and family fun.

Activities start today and will run through Monday at the fairgrounds on U.S. 8.

General admission is $3 per person per day, except on Monday, when general admission drops to $1. A weekly pass costs $10. Children under age five enter free.

Parking is free throughout the entire fair.

Today is Preview Day.

Events include:

- All market, breeding, and open beef, swine, sheep, and goat entries accepted from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

- Carnival rides bracelet night from 4 p.m. to close. Bracelets cost $20 each day.

Thursday is Exhibitor Day.

Events include:

- All other animal entries accepted from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

- All still entries accepted from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

- Cooking contest from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

- American Legion Post 50 bingo from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.

- Carnival rides bracelet night from 4 p.m. to close.

- Breeding livestock show at 4:30 p.m.

- The official opening of the fair at 5 p.m.

- Go-karts in the grandstand at 6 p.m.

Friday is Youth Day.

Events include:

- All youth and open dairy entries accepted from 7 a.m. to noon.

- Judging for all categories not otherwise listed at 8:30 a.m.

- Draft horse show at noon.

- American Legion Post 50 bingo from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.

- Carnival rides bracelet night from 1 p.m. to close.

- Circus Boy at 1 p.m., 3 p.m., and 6 p.m.

- Youth market livestock show for beef, swine, sheep, and goats at 1 p.m.

- Cooking contest from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

- BMX at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

- Demolition Derby State Line Challenge at 8 p.m. in the grandstands. Admission is $10. There will also be a 50/50 drawing during the event.

Saturday is Agriculture Day.

Events include:

- Pony and horse pull weigh-in at 8:30 a.m.

- Open horse show at 9 a.m.

- Kids' Building Workshop at the exhibition building from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

- Carnival rides bracelet night from 11 a.m. to close.

- BMX at 11 a.m., 3 p.m., and 5 p.m.

- Pony pull at 11 a.m., immediately followed by the open draft horse pulls. Admission is $5 for anyone age six and up.

- Dairy judging at 11 a.m.

- Live music from Paula D at the Wally Bouchey pavilion from noon to 6 p.m.

- American Legion Post 50 bingo from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.

- Circus Boy at 1 p.m., 3 p.m., and 6 p.m.

- Horseshoe pitch singles and doubles at 1 p.m.

- Cooking contest at 1 p.m.

- 4-H buyers meet and greet from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

- Youth livestock auction at 6 p.m.

- Free country music concert featuring City Limits, Hot Rod Express, and Next Myle from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. There will also be a 50/50 drawing during the event.

Sunday is Race Day.

Events include:

- Youth horse show at 9 a.m.

- Carnival rides bracelet night from 11 a.m. to close.

- BMX at 11 a.m., 3 p.m., and 5 p.m.

- Live music from Paula D at the Wally Bouchey pavilion from noon to 6 p.m.

- American Legion Post 50 bingo from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.

- Annual Fair Fun Dog Show at 1 p.m.

- Circus Boy at 1 p.m., 3 p.m., and 6 p.m.

- Horse speed events at 2 p.m.

- Cooking contest from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

- Labor Day Race sponsored by the Dickinson County Race Association at 6 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children.

Monday is Senior Day.

Events include:

- Truck and tractor pull weigh-in at 8 a.m.

- Dickinson County 4-H Council fun horse show registration at 8 a.m.

- Dickinson County 4-H Council fun horse show at 9 a.m.

- Cooking contest from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

- Tractor pull at 10 a.m. Admission is $5 for anyone age six and up.

- Carnival rides bracelet night from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Rides can also be purchased for $1 per ride on Monday only.

- Live music from Paula D at the Wally Bouchey pavilion from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

- American Legion Post 50 bingo from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

- Truck pull at 1 p.m. Admission is $5 for anyone age six and up.

- Circus Boy at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

- BMX at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

- All exhibits released at 5 p.m.
