IRON MOUNTAIN - A Norway teen accused of committing multiple breaking and enterings throughout Dickinson County with three juvenile co-defendants has been scheduled for arraignment in Dickinson County Circuit Court on Sept. 16.

Cody James Howorth, 17, along with his attorney Daniel Jaspen, agreed to waive his preliminary examination in Dickinson County District Court earlier this week.

District Court Judge Christopher Ninomiya then bound Howorth over to the circuit court level, where Judge Mary Barglind will preside over the case.

Howorth faces three felony counts of breaking and entering a building, one felony count of breaking and entering a vehicle, five felony counts of larceny from a motor vehicle, one felony count of resisting or obstructing an officer, and three misdemeanor counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

If convicted, he could spend up to 10 years in prison for each of the breaking and entering a building charges, up to five years in prison for the breaking and entering a vehicle charge, up to five years in prison for each of the larceny charges, up to two years in prison for the resisting and obstructing charge, and up to two years in prison for each of the unlawful use of a motor vehicle charges.

The charges stem from incidents that occurred between July 23 and Aug. 3 in Iron Mountain, Kingsford, and Norway.

Howorth is accused of breaking into garages, vehicles, and the Kingsford High School concession stand in order to steal items such as car stereos, skate boards, cigarettes, money, ice cream, and sports drinks.

In addition, Howorth and his co-defendants allegedly took three off-road vehicles from a Norway business without permission and drove them through Hanbury Lake Park.

Howorth's co-defendants in the case are juveniles and will be dealt with in Dickinson County Circuit Court's Family Division. The co-defendants include a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy from Williston, N.D. and a 16-year-old boy from Quinnesec.
