"I thought we played a great defensive game," Nordics coach Joe Reddinger said. "We're going to see a lot of spread teams down the road. Our defensive line was phenomenal."

Hruska led all rushers in the game with 108 yards on seven carries, not taking a handoff again after halftime. He scored on runs of 23, 16, 37 yards and added a nifty 66-yard punt return for a score in the third quarter.

Matt Schultz scored twice for the Nordics, taking in the game's first tally from four yards out in the first quarter and catching a Logan O'Neil roll out pass in the end zone from seven yards away.

Schultz, also lifted out of the backfield at the break, went 60 yards in eight trips.

Up 7-0 after one quarter, the Nordics put up 29 points in the second frame.

"I thought we adjusted pretty well," Reddinger said. "We didn't expect to see the defense we saw. We had to coach on the fly."

Derek Wagner and Reggie Johnson each found the end zone with 40-plus yard scampers in the second half. Noah Berg caught a fumble out of mid-air late in the game and scooted 21 yards for the Nordics' final touchdown.

Florence, with 14 players, was held to negative total yardage for the game.

"We're just so green," Bobcats coach Dan Robinson said. "And when you can't sub, not to take anything away from North Dickinson. That's a great team. We're just building and trying to make a team here. Our guys never quit."

Brad Gustafson and Jordan Bosma were among North Dickinson's leaders in tackles for loss. Justin Clark added a blocked punt.

North Dickinson (1-0) travels to Newberry next Friday. Florence (0-2) heads to Wabeno.
