Though many people, including myself at times, wish for the days of yore, this day and age in which we live can be the greatest if we so choose.
As journalist and broadcaster Edward R. Murrow once said of television: "This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires and lights in a box."
The same can be said of all technology that is developed and we are inculcated with in this day and age. the computer and its minions, such as iPads, cell phones, etc., can be useful tools that can be used for greater knowledge, which inevitably leads to greater growth of a human being. Technology has within itself the wisdom of Aristotle, the compassion of Gandhi, and the genius of Einstein all at our fingertips if we so choose. We can use technology to learn and grow or we can use it to frivol our time away, as Edward Murrow was referring to when he spoke about television. The choice is ours.
