IRON MOUNTAIN - Iron Mountain tuned up for the Mid-Peninsula Conference girls tennis tournament by downing Menominee 6-2 Monday at Amos Marston Eastside Courts.
Coach Greg Stegall's Mountaineers, 8-3 in dual meets this season, head to Ishpeming on Wednesday for the league tournament.
"It's a toss-up," Stegall said of the tournament. "If we play well it can go any way.

Olivia Truscott prevailed at No. 2 singles Monday in Iron Mountain’s match with Menominee at Amos Marston Eastside Courts.
"We've taken turns beating each other (at certain flights this season)."
Negaunee and Westwood are also prime MPC title contenders.
Katie Brule and Olivia Truscott delivered Mountaineer singles wins against the Maroons. Brule won in two sets but was extended 7-5 in the second by Molly Jackson.
"Molly really battled and was playing well," Stegall said. "Katie is a competitor and makes it happen."
Kingsford hosts the Great Northern Conference tournament on Wednesday.

West Iron 2
IRON RIVER - West Iron County, in a final tune-up ahead of Wednesday's Great Northern Conference tournament, fell to Marquette 6-2 in girls tennis Monday.
"Today's match was a good warm up for Wednesday's tournament," Wykons coach Denise Spelgatti said. "The scores were much closer than they seem. Our girls played well. Hopefully on Wednesday some of these scores will be reversed."
Jessie Prudhomme won at No. 4 singles for the Wykons. The West Iron No. 3 doubles tandem of Kristin Smith and Alexis Golfis also claimed victory.
Coach Spelgatti also praised the work of her jayvee players.
Michelle Wiegand and Sydney Schram defeated their opponents 6-1. Madi MacNamara and Keeley Nolingberg lost to their opponent 6-1, and Molley Sheehan and Hannah Swanson lost to their opponents 6-1.
"They are all improving," she said.
Wednesday's GNC tournament takes place at Kingsford High School.
