A slap on the back and a handshake for the county commissioners' decision not to sell the Crystal Lake Senior Center to the YMCA of Delta County. Remembering the blood, sweat and tears shed by our founding fathers to acquire this site for seniors now and generations yet to come. A petition was circulated, signed and once again the people were heard.
Rest easy wood carvers, quilters, dancers, card and pool players, crafters and whoever else. Meals will still be prepared and delivered, transportation will be provided, meetings will still be held and employees will receive their paychecks. Parking is good, as is location. What a pleasure to walk into this well-kept building.
The fireside room is restful. The game room continues to have pool and poker tables. The kitchen is awesome. The dining room is cheerful, with windows to watch the deer and a bird watchers paradise. The casino bus still boards at this site as well.
Members of the community: take full advantage of the board's decision. Be proud of, take care of and enjoy this facility to the fullest.
P.S. The flower bed needs tending. Perhaps volunteers with green thumbs or members of the Garden Club will give this some thought come springtime.
