FP, ND lead prep grid poll

NEGAUNEE - The top two teams in the U.P. Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association's "Little Five" poll will collide Friday at Crystal Falls' Dick Mettlach Field.

Top-ranked Forest Park and No. 2 North Dickinson, both with 5-0 records, will meet at 6:30 p.m. In the latest poll, Coach Bill Santilli's Trojans garnered four first-place votes and 24 poll points; Coach Joe Reddinger's Nordics, one and 21.

Menominee (three firsts, 23 poll points) holds a slim edge over Ishpeming (two, 22) in the "Big Five" poll. Kingsford stands fourth (nine votes) and West Iron County fifth (five).

Poll follows (first-place votes in parentheses):

BIG FIVE

1. Menominee (3), 5-0 record, 23 poll points; 2. Ishpeming (2), 5-0, 22; 3. Negaunee, 5-0, 14; 4. Kingsford, 4-1, 9; 5. West Iron County, 5-0, 5.

Other: Marquette, 4-1, 2.

LITTLE FIVE

1. Forest Park (4), 5-0, 24; 2. North Dickinson (1), 5-0, 21; 3. St. Ignace, 4-1, 15; 4. North Central, 4-1, 9; 5. Pickford, 4-1, 5.
