FELCH - With North Dickinson's best chance of disrupting Lexi Gussert and the Lady Trojans leaving just two points into the match, Forest Park cruised to a 25-14, 25-6, 25-21 Skyline volleyball victory here Tuesday night.

Forest Park’s Lexi Gussert fires past North Dickinson’s Maria Roell (7) and Lexi Steele (3) during Tuesday’s Skyline volleyball match at North Dickinson High School. Maria Stankewicz (3) looks on for Forest Park.

North Dickinson middle hitter/blocker Miranda Jacobson turned an ankle and did not return for the Nordics. That left Gussert with little resistance at the net. She slammed a match-best 14 kills and also posted match highs with five aces and four blocks.

"You take out a middle like her, and it changes their dynamic," Forest Park coach Kim Bjork said. "It would be like us losing Lexi. It was too bad for them."

The Nordics got a few blocks from Kimberly Cary, but the loss of Jacobson was simply too much to overcome.

"We had to just do what we could do," Nordics coach Sandy Haustein said. "Our serving was good tonight, but other than that, we just gave them free hits at us. They had free shots and we had little to no blocking. When Miranda is in there, it can force long hits."

North Dickinson, with a libero change in the third set, led as late 16-15 in the final set. The teams were tied at 18 when a kill by Gussert put the Trojans in front for good. Gussert added a few more kills down the stretch and closed the match by floating a tip over the Nordic front row down to a wide-open hole on the left side.

Lexi Steele's four kills led the Nordics. Chelsey Stroud added three kills and an ace.

Libby Shamion contributed seven kills for Forest Park. Michaela Steiro had five kills. Maria Stankewicz had 25 assists and four aces.

The Lady Trojans, also winners in the jayvee match, improved to 9-0 in league play and 21-1-5 overall. North Dickinson slipped to 6-2 in league matches.

Nordics play at a triangular at Norway Thursday. Forest Park goes to North Central Monday.

Hannah Marinoff - 3 digs; Maria Stankewicz - 4 aces, 25 assists, 3 digs; Michaela Steiro - 5 kills; Libby Shamion - 7 kills, 2 aces, 1 dig; Kelsi Hendrickson - 2 kills, 1 ace, 3 digs, 2 assists; Lexi Gussert - 14 kills, 5 aces, 1 dig, 4 blocks; Adel Isaacson - 3 kills, 2 aces, 3 digs.
