NIU women's volleyball

Pioneers looking to finish strong

October 12, 2013
The Daily News

DUNBAR, Wis. -Northland International launched a women's volleyball homestand Friday by sweeping Northland College of Ashland and Mount Mary College of Milwaukee.

The NIU serving match tallied five aces in the Northland match and 18 aces against Mount Mary.

"We are nearing the finish line and we need to understand that it is very dangerous to dictate your present performance by what happened in a past performance," NIU Coach Dave Herron said. "This team understands the strength of our regional tourney and we want to be competitive. You can try too hard to be too good and be ineffective. Players just need to do what they do well."

The Lady Pioneers (17-7), who enter the last three weeks of the regular season, play matches Tuesday (Silver Lake, 7:30 p.m.) and Friday (Gogebic for homecoming, 7 p.m.) at the Pioneer Center.
