Elaine G. Luxmore

IRON MOUNTAIN - Elaine G. Luxmore, 93, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at Rose Garden Assisted Living in Grandville, Mich. Elaine was born on Aug. 28, 1920, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Archie and Laura Trescowthick. She was a 1939 graduate of Kingsford High School. Elaine worked for Sackims and at Paul Electric until her marriage to Harold "Lux" Luxmore on April 7, 1942. From 1942-43 she worked at the Archie Studio until moving to Camp White in Oregon to be with her husband before he was shipped to Africa in January 1944 with the Army's 91st Infantry Division. Together they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1992. Harold preceded her in death on July 15, 1993.

Elaine was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was an avid bowler and bowled at Chickies for A&W, LoDal, the Tuesday night ladies league at Kingsford Recreation Lanes, the senior citizens league on Friday afternoon and the senior league while wintering in Arizona. Elaine loved to crochet, afghan and do crafts. She was a great pasty and pizzelli maker. Her family was small but she loved them so much.

Elaine is survived by her son, Robert (Joni) Luxmore of Hudsonville; daughter, Sharon (Tom) Sullivan of Highlandville, Mo.; grandchildren, Robert Luxmore, William (Chris) Luxmore and Jayne Gunville; great-grandchildren, Madison, Robert and Hunter Luxmore, and Kaeden Jeffers; niece, Betty Ann Grenfell; nephew, Fred Luxmore; and cousins, Christine Sericati and Bob Knight. She is also survived by her special friend, Gladys Margetta of Schofield, Wis., who she met in 1943 while their husbands were in the service and continued their friendship all these years.

Graveside services will be on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at 11 a.m. in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.

Rev. Michael March will officiate.
