Boards plan meetings this week

The Dickinson County Board of Commissioners will meet at 6:30 tonight in the circuit courtroom of the courthouse.

The agenda includes approval of a Michigan Department of Transportation contract for Ford Airport for interior door modifications and repairs to a rescue/fire fighting vehicle.

The Breitung Township Schools Board of Education will meet today at 7 p.m. in the board room of the administration building, 2000 Pyle Drive in Kingsford.

Reports will be given by the finance, personnel and policy committee along with the first reading of policies. The 2012-13 financial audit will also be presented and approved.

The Iron Mountain School District Board of Education will meet today at 6 p.m. in the board meeting room of the administration building.

The agenda includes approval of the 2012-13 audit, Spanish Club presentation on the trip to Guatemala and Belize, the OHM architectural and engineering contract, handbooks for East Elementary, Iron Mountain High School and middle school, accepting a resignation, a letter of retirement, three staff hirings, and a closed session to discuss negotiation strategies.

The Florence County Board will meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the commissioner's room of the Florence County Courthouse.

The Breitung Township Board will meet at 7 p.m. today in the board meeting room of the township offices in Quinnesec.

The agenda includes a bid opening for a sander/spreader unit and Boss V plow, revisions to the proposed garbage ordinance and fire tanker recommendations.

New business includes a discussion of the Devil's Icebox property, noxious weeds and grass ordinance, and a resolution in support of House Bill 4977 and Senate Bill 511.

The Florence County School District Board of Education will hold a special meeting today at 5 p.m. in Room 215 of the high school.

New business includes a discussion of Eagle Waste Disposal, waste disposal bids, public relations substitute teacher compensation and referendum committee. Bids for a walk-in cooler/freezer will be opened under old business.

A closed session is also planned to discuss personnel and consideration of staffing/contracts/compensation.
