West Iron County finds faster assistant to mirror opposition

If West Iron County needs to imitate a mobile quarterback in practice, the Wykons turn to new assistant Joby Sullivan.

"We're fortunate that we have a young coach in Joby Sullivan who can run like a young guy, instead of the past years where we had Mr. Thomson running quarterback," Berutti said Saturday after the Wykons ripped Northland Pines to claim a share of the West PAC title. "We now have Joby. We put a helmet on him and we let him run with the ball."

Mr. Thomson would be school superintendent and football assistant Chris Thomson, a slick quarterback in his Marquette High School days. Sullivan, an Iron Mountain High School grad, made the 2006 All-U.P. Dream Team at defensive back. He also earned All-Mid-Peninsula Conference at wide receiver and defensive back. Joby also played at Northern Michigan ...
