Knights pull away in fourth

NORWAY - Norway struck for 26 points in the fourth quarter and blanked Gwinn 34-0 in Mid-Peninsula Conference football Friday at Ronberg Field.

"We played well," Norway Coach Bob Madigan said. "We fought through some adversity (with injuries) but the kids stepped up and did it."

Jordan Neumann's six-yard run and conversion put the Knights on top 8-0 in the second quarter. Neumann led the Knights with 142 yards on 26 carries.

In the fourth period, fourth-string quarterback Zavier Gonzalez flipped a five-yard touchdown pass to Nick Pearman. Gonzalez, taking his first snaps at quarterback, was replacing injured quarterback Taylor Bonetti.

"Zavier's a good athlete, but he hadn't played quarterback," Madigan said. "But he played well. We had to put in a whole

new offense on Tuesday."

Garrett Bonetti's 71-yard pass interception added six more fourth-quarter points. Neumann and Bonetti also ran for scores.

Norway's Jake Rehn added 75 yards on 12 trips. Gwinn's Owen DeVooght rushed for 141 yards on 24 carries.

Norway (3-5, 2-3) travels to Iron Mountain on Friday. Gwinn dropped to 2-6 overall and 1-4 MPC.
